DESCRIPTIONS
What
to expect in a Kickboxing class
The
class consists of a 45-60-minute workout with safety of the participants
as the primary goal. Boxing gloves and wraps are recommended and
foot and shin guards optional. No one will strike heavy bags without
proper hand protection.
The
class will start with a warm up cardio exercise of either air attack
moves or a skipping workout. The Instructor will then demonstrate
the proper techniques to be utilized during the session ahead. The
participants/instructor will select partners with consideration
for the opponents size (the partners will be of similar height,
weight, fitness and skill level). This segment of the workout will
be used to practice good kickboxing techniques. The session then
moves into strike, kick and punch combinations structured in 2 minute
rounds to simulate a competitive match. Round timers signify the
start and end of each round with a 30 to 60 second rest and water
break. During each round, one partner will be the striker and one
the defender/ pad holder. Each combination will be predetermined
so that both partners are aware of and prepared for the routine.
A more vigorous workout is utilized for advanced classes and participants
are able to work in partners on more complex combination or on free-standing
heavy bags.
All
classes will conclude with strength, abdominal and back exercises
followed by stretching.
Family
Kickboxing -caters
for families who can take the class together (age 4+), as well as
teens and adults who want to continue with their regular training.
The class will be divided into two - one instructor will lead children
under 11, and the other instructor will lead teens & adults.
Parents attending the class are welcome to particpate with their
children in the class drills if they wish.
Cardio
Kickboxing – this class will make you sweat
and burn those calories...up to 800 calories in one class! Starting
with an “ease in” warm-up and moving into high intervals
of “real kickboxing” rounds/combinations using pads,
gloves and kicking shields for safety and a FUN class. Bring a towel
and lots of water.
Kickboxing
Strength
–
a complete workout experience, strengthening and toning while building
endurance and functional fitness. This class will use an array of
fitness kickboxing conditioning equipment, pads and gloves so no
class will ever be the same.
Kickboxing
to the “Core”
– we focus on strikes, kicks and exercises that really target
the whole core while burning extra calories.
Kickboxing/TRX
– whole body workout incorporating striking,
pad holding, with hardcore training on the amazing TRX suspension
system, bring a towel and water for this one!
Brazilian
Jiiu Jitsu
(BJJ) – a martial art,
combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling
and especially ground fighting. It teaches that a smaller, weaker
person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant
by using leverage and proper technique. Great for fitness and self
defense!
Jeet
Kune Do (JKD)
– an eclectic martial art first created
and refined by "Little Dragon", Bruce Lee. Using "no
way, as way". Focusing on what works as the main goal in this
martial art, this is why JKD is renowned for it's street effectiveness.
We cover all ranges of fighting, from the ground to stand up, to
weapons or empty hand. Your own pair of Kali sticks and boxing gloves
are required (available at reception).
Children's
Kickboxing -
offers a fun and varied way to help your child focus on developing
and improving skill, coordination, mental focus and physical stamina,
and the ability to follow direction. They'll have fun while boosting
self-confidence and enjoying team work. Details

All
Levels - for all students who are either at beginner
level, or have had previous experience.
Children's
Yoga - 6-9
yrs. Children will learn yoga, song, breathing, and meditation through
creative interaction, games, stories and journaling. This is a wonderful
experience for your child to gain awareness of their body, and the
way they feel. Yoga promotes focus, calmness, flexibility (in body
and mind) and creative imagination.
Preschool
Yoga -
3-5 yrs. Children
will learn yoga, song, breathing, and meditation through creative
interaction, games and stories. The class offers short exercises
and activities to keep the children focused and engaged. This
is a wonderful experience for your child to gain awareness of their
body, and the way they feel. Yoga promotes focus, calmness, flexibility
(in body and mind) and creative imagination.
