Balance & Wellness for the Seasons: Early Summer

“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” – Thornton Wilder

A journey to support the body and mind to align with the natural flow of the seasons.

Summer is the most Yang season. It represents outward energy, expansion, movement, and activity. This is the time to use the energy we have been storing all Winter and play! The early summer season of Traditional Chinese Medicine is associated with heart health and blood flow, the element of Fire and the emotion of Joy!

This five-week series brings the opportunity to ignite and celebrate your energy, using the Fire element to springboard you into action towards the plans and ideas you have planted during the Spring. Discover ways to engage in healthier eating at this time of the year and supportive practices to maintain your life-force energy (prana) and improved health.

Through intentional practice of breathwork, postures, meditation, and sound therapy (symphonic gong bath), these classes are designed to support and promote balance and well being as we transition into summer.

In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. Combining breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures, we balance the endocrine system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purify the blood. What to bring to class

Wear comfortable, loose clothing, preferably of natural fibre. Bring a water bottle, a yoga mat and/or sheepskin, something to cover yourself during deep relaxation.

Bring any props you may need to support you during your practice (meditation cushion, bolsters, blocks etc.)

Avoid eating just before coming to a yoga class. Ideally eat 1 to 1.5 hours before, so your body has time to digest the food before your practice.

Testimonials

I can't believe how many changes I am feeling since I started taking your class.  I am bursting with joy, excitement gratitude etc....  I have more patience and understanding for everyday life.  Please continue your path of teaching because you are making a difference in people's lives.

R. W.

Theresa has been a wonderful Kundalini Yoga instructor.  Her classes are always motivating, inspiring and challenging and I look forward to them every week.  She also has encouraged me on a personal level and supported me to practice Kundalini in my own space.  I even used the breathing techniques and strategies on my recent wedding day and it definitely allowed me to enjoy my day with grace and ease. I will continue to explore and practice Kundalini yoga for the rest of my life.  Sat Nam.
