The Two Pillar Approach

In the Oxygen Advantage Program we focus on two main approaches to deliver results.

Before we begin, we take two measurement appraisals to determine your oxygen/ carbon dioxide tolerance so we can work from this baseline to monitor your improvement during the program.

  1. Body oxygen level test (BOLT)

  2. Maximum breathlessness test (MBT)

Functional Breathing
Pattern Training

  • Improves blood circulation and oxygen delivery to the cells

  • Dilates the upper airways (nose) and lower airways (lungs)

  • Reduces the onset and endurance of breathlessness

  • significantly reduces exercise-induced bronchoconstriction

  • Reduces energy cost associated with breathing

  • Maximizes vagal tone

  • Maintains parasympathetic-sympathetic balance

  • Increases HRV, RSA and sensitivity of baroreceptors

  • Improves sleep, focus, concentration and calm

  • Improves posture and spinal stabliization

  • Improves functional movement to reduce the risk of injury

Altitude training for breath optimization

Simulation of High-altitude Training

(intermittent hypercapnic, hypoxic training)

  • Improves aerobic capacity (some non-responders)

  • Improves anaerobic capacity

  • Stimulates aerobic glycolysis without risk of injury

  • Increases VO2 max and running economy

  • Increases repeated sprint ability for teams sports

  • Increases maximum tolerance to breathlessness

  • Improves respiratory muscle strength

  • Helps maintain fitness during rest or injury

  • Reduces ventilatory response to hypercapnia and hypoxia
